When we think of the Cannes Film Festival we think of the A-list roster of attendees, the red carpet high fashion, of course the amazing films, and the trendsetting red carpet beauty. Year after year our favorite starlets and influencers inspire us with their breathtaking looks, which we often mimic for our own special occasions and social media pages.
This year we caught up with ultra-popular influencers Militza Yovanka and Jessica Wang, who let us in on their beauty secrets. These digital creators with treasured hands deliver fashion and beauty expertise to their millions of followers with a dose of positivity and a sprinkling of joy. It’s no wonder why their skin still glows through the busiest of weeks — spoiler: a healthy dose of hyaluronic acid may also be a factor.
Keep reading to find out about the bizarre items they stash in their beauty bags, to find out how they prep their skin for weeklong events and to learn how they make it through festivals like Cannes without breaking a sweat.
How do you prep your skin for events like this where you'll be in makeup all day and all night?
Militza: I have two secrets: First, lots of hyaluronic acid — before moisturizer — before bed. And if you apply the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Derm Intensives with 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid, 1% Caffeine Eye Serum before doing your makeup, it really helps avoid creasing and the lines that can form with a lot of powders and stuff for photos.
Also, I like to add some of the Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Facial Drops, Fragrance-Free to my moisturizer at night so the next day I don’t have to wear as much foundation. I have a pretty glow all day and I avoid wearing too much foundation, which can start to look caked up because we touch up our makeup [all day]. So you look awake even if you’re tired.
If you only had five minutes to do makeup and you were going to be photographed, what’s the one thing you would be sure to do?
Jessica: If I only had 5 minutes I would definitely do my eyebrows and skin. Your face makeup and eyebrows are such defining features in a makeup routine so for me to feel confident these steps have to be done.
What's the most bizarre beauty item you tend to keep in your purse?Militza: It’s not a bizarre item [per se], it’s more bizarre that I have one in every bag — it’s the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Up to 24H Fresh Wear in a Powder. It has a mirror so if you’re a mess you know. If the lipstick is gone it’s not that bad, if there’s no more blush that’s okay. But if you have a stain or something you need foundation to touch up.
