Introducing L’Oréal Paris' Newest Spokeswoman: Viola Davis

Have you heard the news? We're proud to announce our newest international spokeswoman—and we think you’ll be just as excited by this information as we are. Viola Davis, actress, activist, and humanitarian, is the latest inspiring and diverse woman to represent L’Oréal Paris. The 54-year-old’s appointment as spokeswoman shouldn’t come as a surprise to those who’ve kept up with our past spokesmodel announcements. Each spokeswoman is chosen to reflect the diversity of the modern world and encourage beauty inclusivity, self-worth, and empowerment—things Viola knows all about.

Not only is Viola the first African-American actress to obtain the “Triple Crown” of acting—which refers to receiving three of acting’s most prestigious awards—but in her time off-screen, Viola devotes herself to her family and working as an activist, which has led to international recognition for her support of human rights and equal rights for women and women of color. With her husband, Viola has also founded a production company—JuVee Productions—which develops and produces projects with an emphasis on diverse and inclusive storytelling.

As for how L’Oréal Paris fits into Viola’s life, it’s all about seeing herself as a woman of worth and wanting others to feel the same. Sharing her experience with recognizing her worth, she says, “I worked tremendously hard to get where I am today—overcoming feelings of doubt to become a woman who truly believes I am ‘worth it’ in every way.” She continues, “I believe it’s so important to build confidence in women from a young age, and to role model diverse perspectives of beauty. To now be part of a brand that has been championing women’s worth for more than 40 years and to use my voice to help empower others is truly surreal.”

Speaking on Viola joining our L’Oréal Paris family, global brand president, Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, affirms that she not only embodies our core message—“Because I’m Worth It”—but elevates it. Speaking on exactly that, Viguier-Hovasse says, “Viola’s tenacity, authenticity and bold spirit resonate with and inspire so many people. She challenges the status quo in all aspects of life and her drive to success has proven itself time after time.”
