This October, we held an event to celebrate the launch of our L’Oréal Paris x Isabel Marant Makeup Collection. The event, which took place at Le Turtle in New York City, was attended by top-tier fashion and beauty influencers, media partners, and the L’Oréal Paris team who worked on the collection. Of course, we wanted to give you the inside scoop on what went down at the event, from how the makeup products featured in the collection—ranging from eye makeup to lip makeup—were incorporated into the night’s festivities to the food guests got to snack on. Consider this your backstage pass to the event!
You’re probably wondering, was Isabel Marant actually at the event? She was—and the famed fashion designer did more than just make an appearance. Each guest actually had a chance to meet and mingle with Isabel, making the celebration all the more intimate and meaningful. Guests were also able to hear Isabel speak about the collection, including how much it meant to her and the inspiration behind it. Speaking of which, her inspiration is something we can all get behind: her ready-to-wear fashion. The collection was designed with the independent woman in mind, consisting of on-the-go essentials that reflect her brand’s signature style.
The five pieces from the collection—L’Oréal Paris x Isabel Marant Smile Colour Riche Matte Lipstick, L’Oréal Paris x Isabel Marant Smoke Eyeshadow Duo, L’Oréal Paris x Isabel Marant Wanted Brow Mascara, L’Oréal Paris x Isabel Marant Amaze Gloss, and L’Oréal Paris x Isabel Marant Shine Skin Beautifier—were sprinkled around the venue for guests to play with, try on, or take home. Throughout the night, guests were able to put products to the test at makeup touch-up stations, whether that meant swatching products all over the back of their hands or switching up their lip color mid-event.
Of course, playing with product wasn’t the only thing keeping guests busy during the event. Live portrait sketching and a “WANTED” photo wall were equally as entertaining. When guests weren’t chatting amongst themselves, snacking on French food, or drinking cocktails named after the collection, they had the option of getting their portrait sketched by artist Blair Breitenstein. Besides ending the night in possession of new beauty product goodies, guests left with their custom portraits in-hand, so everyone was able to have a keepsake from the event. Attendees who were also looking to spruce up their Instagram feeds took advantage of the photo wall, posing for photos and videos as the night went on. The décor was also worthy of making it into a few snapshots, with the venue being outfitted with succulents and cacti to match Isabel Marant’s laidback, bohemian aesthetic. Basically, the event was a huge success—much like our 2018 Beautycon events. For more on that, head over to our article, Insider's Look: Beautycon LA and NYC.
