How to Make Your Blowout Last Overnight, According to an Expert

Don’t sleep on these tips.
febrero 14, 2022

Let’s be honest, when you’ve spent precious time and money getting – or giving yourself – a
blowout, you’re going to want it to last a few days. But, for many of us, sleeping with blown out hair feels like a gamble; there’s a 50 percent chance of waking up with creases and flyaways.

Curious about how to maintain the look of your mane post-blowout? Keep reading to discover L’Oréal Paris expert and celebrity hairstylist Jonathan Colombini’s tips on how to sleep with a blowout so your ‘do look luscious come morning.

Tip 1. Maintain The Shape Overnight

To maintain the look of your blowout overnight, Colombini says it’s all in the technique.

“Tying your hair in a loose bun (or two if you have a lot of hair) positioned at the top of your head will keep your blowout intact and ensure your strands stay gorgeous,” he says. Another way to extend the life of your blowout while you sleep is to try sleeping with your hair positioned up over the pillow, rather than under your head and neck.

Tip 2. Sleep On A Silk Or Satin Pillowcase

Prevent frizz and status by sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase. The softness of both silk and satin eliminate the friction between your hair and the pillow (a similar idea to wrapping your hair) and can help keep your hair looking fresh and less slept-on in the morning.

Tip 3. Bring Life Back With Dry Shampoo

If you wake up to find that your strands are missing that classic blowout bounce, you can revive your ‘do with a little dry shampoo. According to Colombini, “dry shampoos can help give a little life and oomph back to your slept-on hair.” Consider the L'Oréal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths Dry Shampoo or the L'Oréal Paris Elvive Sulfate Free Tinted Dry Shampoo for Brown Hair, both work to absorb oil and sweat  and revive flat, lifeless hair.

Tip 4. Smooth Flyaways With Hairspray

Even if you followed the above tips, you might find that you have a few pieces that just won’t stay put. Sound like you? A light flexible hairspray, like the L'Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold, Light Hairspray Unscented can help to smooth out pesky flyaways and freshen up the look of your hairstyle.
