This is not a miracle working conditioner but I believe it does a good job conditioning very dry hair.
I had a terrible experience this past summer getting my hair hilighted by a so called professional who insisted that the lightener she was using was vegan and wouldn't harm my hair. HA!!
My hair is fried.
Anyway, after that, no conditioner would even get through my hair no matter what I did. Out of desperation I thought I would try this and lo and behold I was actually able to get my fingers through my hair when working it in. I was so happy I almost cried in the shower lol. I am able to comb it through and I leave it in for a few minutes and it's good to go. Like I said...it's not a miracle worker but at least I don't dread shampooing my hair as much as I used to while I deal with growing this mess out. I don't use it every time I shampoo, but I do notice best results after I use a build-up removing shampoo (I use a lot of styling product so I need to do that from time to time.)

Took out some good ingredients.

Well, like all companies nowadays, they are taking out good ingredients our hair loves and replacing them with cheaper ones. Loved the yellow tub of this mask, this new version isn't the same, its still ok just not as good. Check the ingredients. Why can't these companies just leave these products alone, and stop penny pinching. When is it enough money for them??? This review probably won't even get posted because of this.

Terrible Procduct Change

I used to love this product. Now that you have changed it, it is awful. The smell is so awful, that I had to return the ones that I bought but had not opened. The one I opened, I threw away. It is also not as effective. ( I think you even state that on the package…16% instead of 17%) Please bring back the old product! The new product is far from an improvement.

Great at home hair improvement.

My hair was breaking off from using a popular styling product. I applied this last night, wrapped it in plastic wrap and rinsed it out. My hair feels like silk. Beautiful, looks great and has height. Well worth the purchase and I will do this again every week. My hair will now be easily managed and look moisturized.

My hair loves this conditioning hair balm. I have fine 55yr old hair - highlighted with heat damage. Tried expensive products. I use this daily and my hair is silky, soft, and has life. Reduced split ends, and hair fall out. Very impressed and I love my hair. Affordable. Thank you!

This product is amazing! My hair was like straw and fried spit ends after having highlights. My curls were gone also. I applied this balm after shampooing and I could immediately see curls coming back!. My hair is soft and very manageable! Thank you L’Oréal Paris for a small price giving big results! Love it!

I have just started using this product because of the damage to my hair when on the advice of a friend I tried another brand. Forgive me for I will not stray again. I already can tell a difference in just 2 shampoos.

Not Blonde Safe!

Just a warning for fellow blondes, give this product a hard swerve! It contains yellow 5 and yellow 6 coloring and turns your hair VERY yellow after a single use. It immediately made my normally gorgeous cool blonde balayage look like something that came out of a drugstore box dye session. Yuck! I had to saturate my hair in purple shampoo and leave it in to remove all of the yellow coloring this product left behind. There’s a reason hair products are white or clear in color and I’m baffled that they would add yellow dye to their product.

Damaged hair all gone!

I purchased this product a few weeks ago. I use it twice a week and let me tell you this is an amazing product. I get highlight touch-up every 3-6 months and my ends were getting damaged. So I figured why not give this a try. I'm so happy I did. I will not stop using this product- it changed my hair for the better.

Severely chemically damaged hair

My hair was so damaged from bleach and hair dye that it felt like straw. My hair was so stiff that when I took it out of a bun, it would just stay in place. It was so bad I hated going out in public with how damaged it was. I saw this product at target and left it in my hair for a few hours. Immediately there was a HUGE difference. I now use this mask as a leave in conditioner probably once a week. My hair is the softest it has ever been and I never cut any of that chemically damaged hair out. This mask is the only thing I added to my routine and it brought my hair back to life. I recommend this mask to everyone I know because it is just that good !

One use and I'm a believer!

My once super-easy hair has been damaged beyond belief after wrongfully trusting one of those "made for you!" customizable hair care companies. I have spent the last year trying strengthen my hair, get rid of split ends, give any volume at all, bring back the waves I used to have, and desperately trying to make sure I don’t lose any more hair (I have an awful thinned out spot right at the back of my part now!). I’ve had some, but not great, success so far…until now! I picked up this Elvive mask and tried it out last night. I used my regular shampoo, then used my regular conditioner (very quick application from root to tip, to untangle the thinned-out, damaged section on my scalp). Once I rinsed that out, I used this mask, fully saturating my hair from about the chin downwards, and working a little bit up towards the roots. I left it on for the recommended 3-5 minutes and rinsed. Used no additional product, did not try to encourage curls in my hair, nothing.
When I woke up this morning, I had the most perfect wave on a little section right by my face, as well as several hints of waves throughout the rest of my hair. It all fell out within an hour of being up and moving, but that’s okay…that’s the most I’ve seen in about two years. Now that the waves are out, I can’t stop marveling at my hair. It feels soft, silky, and weightless, and has more shine than I’ve seen it have in a long time.
Only time will tell for long-term results, and I will continue my search for additional products to add to my arsenal, but I am truly amazed at the results of this.
As a final bonus, the scent is pleasant, not overpowering, and fairly neutral – I don’t think it would “compete” with the scent of most other hair products!

I am so happy with this product. It truly works amazingly. I had very dry hair from being out in the sun. My hair also was oily from using another brand that caused a chemical build up. I could not be happier with this product. I used it with the Elvie dry and damaged repair shampoo.

I bought this after my girls (4 and 7 years old) and I got professionally treated for lice (I know! It was awful!) . They warned me that the lice treatment would destroy our hair to book an appointment for a deep conditioner treatment, which I did for myself, but didn’t feel the need to do so for my children and went out in search of a conditioning treatment I could do myself. That’s where I found this! I found it completely by accident in the hair care aisle and figured I would give it a shot and I’m so glad I did! Our hair was damaged to the point where it felt like dreadlocked straw but now after just one treatment, i was actually able to run a comb through it! It’s still not perfect but it’s a thousand times better then it was and I canceled my appointment! This stuff is amazing! Oh, and it smells good too! :)

I usually buy hair products from the hair salon. This time I was out of my hair mask and had got this one from cvs. I used it this morning for the second time and my hair feels amazing! Super shiny, soft and the smell is wonderful. Also, not pricey comparing other high end brands.

I am at the bottom of the container, and I will be buying another on the next shopping trip. I can not do without it.
I have very fine hair that I color treat, so my hair was becoming frizzy , dull and unattractive. This product makes me proud of my hair again.
To the person that mentioned wanting a travel container.. I just put it into a smaller plastic jar for travel. Or better yet, spoon some into a ziplock bag.
You can squeeze it out to use, and when you have used the last of it, turn the bag inside out, put your hand in the bag and rub on your hair.

Wish I'd Found This Sooner!

I have very very thick, curly, and medium coarse hair that I wash fully once per week and use a straightener on every day. The first time I used this product my hair felt SO much softer, smoother, and smelled great for multiple days. It definitely made my split ends less noticeable and my hair felt like I had naturally straight, sleek hair, whereas before it felt like coarse curly hair that had been straightened. I could see this being too heavy for thin, already sleek/oily hair, but for dry, damaged hair it's a miracle! It gave me comparable results to much more expensive products and it will last me months.

THIS is worth it!

This product should definitely only be used on extremely dried & fried, especially color-treated hair, basically anyone with noticeably damaged hair, split ends, etc. Also, I'd recommend using only if you have optimal to thick hair, and to probably only use this treatment 1x/wk, because it truly is a miracle worker on my disgustingly over-processed THICK hair, and reading some of the negative reviews, I could only guess these people had great hair to begin with, and/or anything but very thick, coarse hair, like mine. Maybe it was left on too long, or maybe not left in the hair long enough? Before committing to the product, I bought the sample packet, which I noticed is offered everywhere the full size product is sold, so it's truly beneficial & I'd recommend doing that for anyone who's on the fence about whether to purchase or not.

Very heavy and not effective

I was looking forward to finding at least some change with its use, but found it very ineffective and it left quite a bit of residue even after thorough washing. It left my hair feeling heavy and not healthy at all.

I made the mistake of getting a perm and am suffering the damage of it now. I tried L'Oreal Elvive Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm and just after two uses, I am amazed by the amount of repair of my hair. My hair has almost completely quit breaking and has regained much of its shine. Again.....I'VE ONLY USED IT TWICE SO FAR!!! Thank you for this product and its effects on my hair. I am thoroughly impressed and will switch to only using L'Oreal hair products just because of this one!
