While the front row is where you’d typically find celebrities and influencers during the Paris Fashion Week shows, Stand Up is shaking things up this season. On October 3, L’Oréal Paris, the official beauty partner for Paris Fashion Week, is transforming the Parvis Des Droits L’Homme into the Parvis Des Droits L’Femme with the Militant Défilé. The celebration of women walking freely is the perfect punctuation to the 9-day event, showcasing the brand’s commitment to empowering women and celebrating their worth daily. What Is The Militant Défilé?
In partnership with the nonprofit organization Hollback! L’Oréal Paris is hosting Le Défilé, a Stand Up activation to bring awareness and momentum to the movement to end street harassment, allowing women and girls to walk through public spaces safely. The event is historically open to the public in an effort to reach as many people as possible. This year it’s being held in support of the work that Hollaback! is doing, including their bystander intervention training that equips men and women with tools to intervene when they witness street harassment. The goal is to train 1 million people globally to become Upstanders by the end of 2021, ultimately building a culture where street harassment is not accepted.
“This year’s ‘Le Défilé’ will be a remarkable platform for women’s empowerment, conveying a strong message of self-worth and disrupting the conventions of typical runway shows by inviting the public to join the Stand Up Against Street Harassment program,” explained L’Oréal Paris Global Brand President Delphine Viguier-Hovasse. “Celebrating our feminine and feminist vision, the show will be a rallying cry for all women [and men] who share these convictions. I am proud to unite our global family of inspirational spokespeople in celebration of these values.”
The event brings together everyday women with celebrities alike, including L’Oréal Paris’ diverse roster of incredible spokeswomen such as Eva Longoria, Camila Cabello, Doutzen Kroes and Helen Mirren. As the brand celebrates the 50th anniversary of its “Because You’re Worth It” slogan, it beckons what the next 50 years of affirming that women around the world are enough should look like. Shows like Le Défilé are a celebration of the power of women, and a constant reminder that when we create a world where women feel seen, heard and safe, then we create a world that uplifts everyone.
