Get the look by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Complete your face makeup
Glitter tears extend down your face, so it’s important that you complete your entire complexion before moving on to your eyes. Since festivals are outdoors, you may want to consider using lightweight, long-lasting products to help reduce your chances of ending up with super-shiny, smeared makeup by midday. First, apply your primer, then blend and buff your foundation on using a makeup blender. Finish things off with a quick dusting of mattifying powder to help make your look last.
Step 2: Create a halo eye
For this look, you’ll want to use a few eye shadow colors to create an oh-so-pretty gradient effect. Since festival season is all about bright colors, we especially love how this looks with purple hues. Using the lavender color from your purple palette, shade along your crease. Next, layer more dimension into your crease with the medium pinky-purple shadow. For the lid, use the lightest purple shade all over. Next, darken the inner and outer corners of your crease using the deep eggplant color.
Editor’s note: When applying these shadows, you want to make sure to pat and not swipe them on. If you do swipe them onto your lids, the colors may end up being combined into one muddled shade.
Step 3: Trace the base of your tears
Before you load your face up with glitter, it’s a good idea to create a base as a guideline. Use the palette’s medium purple shade again and lightly trace under your bottom lid, extending in streaks down your cheek where you want your tears to be. When doing this, make sure your eyes don’t look identical because you want it to look natural—well, as natural as a super-vibrant makeup look can be.
Step 4: Add glitter
Use a thin eyeliner brush dipped in a glitter base to dab loose glitter all along where you just mapped out your tears with shadow. For added allure, you can use a few different glitters in different sizes so that your tears are multi-dimensional. Just remember to keep the majority of your glitter close to your eyes since that’s where tears naturally well up when you cry. Your glitter tears should become less concentrated as they “roll” down your cheeks.
Step 5: Finish with mascara
To complete your teary look and get a festival-ready gaze, add a coat of waterproof mascara that won’t budge.
Step 6: Set your entire look
Now that you’ve spent so much time perfecting your gorgeous glitter tears, you’ll certainly want to make sure they’re capable of staying put through a full day at a festival. To do so, spritz your face with setting spray before you head out to the festival grounds!
