Little product within these days

I have happily, faithfully used this in waterproof form for YEARS, since I was a teacher, then flight attendant in my twenties through mid-thirties, to now in my sixties. I now find so little in freshly-opened containers that it seems hopeless to continue buying it. I live in a lightly populated western U.S. county, but have purchased it in very populous city drug and department stores trying to make sure it had not been stored overly long. This past year I've found it now contains very little product regardless. What's become of this? I hate that I now have to search for another non-irritating, controllable, waterproof mascara that I can rely upon and apply tastefully in a reasonable amount of time.

Terrible formula change

I loved this mascara before the formula change (when it was 5X the volume, not 15X the volume). Now it is goopy, has a terrible odor, and is simply not the same mascara at all! Why did you change a product that people loved before! Please change it back. It seems the consensus is that the formula change is a failure. Will not buy this new product again.

Terrible! Broke off all my lashes!

Oh my gosh! I just bought this for a cruise I am currently on! I applied this mascara and my eyes felt irritated and stung a little. When I washed my face that evening my lashes completely broke off. I now have little stub eyelashes left! I am so upset and would give negative stars if I could! Terrible

Great product but not the color I expected

This product does great with adding length and not clumping. However I was disappointed that the green color is so dark that it appears as black when applied.

Go Back to the Old Formula ASAP

I have used only this mascara for decades, and my daughters as well. What did you do to this formula? It is absolutely terrible now. It clumps and is impossible to remove now. If I wanted a waterproof mascara, I would buy the waterproof version. With so much push-back, you would be making a good business decision to go back to the former formula. It’s almost like the new Coke debacle. I won’t be wasting my money on this new, terrible version of my once beloved mascara. I am sad and disappointed, and apparently are so many other once loyal users.

Hate the new formula. It is thin but goes on clumpy, especially on ends. It does NOT lengthen lashes like it used to. Lashes look terrible and will age anyone 10-20 years. I have used this brand for many years.

Changed formula now sucks

I have used this mascara for years. The violet color. I recently bought a new tube and the color has completely changed. It used to be more purple and now it is burgundy with very reddish undertones. Also it now flakes off throughout the day and leaks mascara flakes in my under eye area. I even went out and bought another tube just thinking it was a fluke. I am so sad the formula has changed because now I won’t buy this mascara anymore.

something is really wrong with this NEW formula!

I have been using the Volumizing in black for about 20 years & advised many of my friends to this
because they loved my lashes showing so long as though they were fake and NOW I can't believe they changed the formula. The brush is the same but the mascara is really clumpy when it comes out of the tube even separating the bristles & on my eyes especially on my lower lashes. After buying 3 different tubes from 3 different stores to see if it was the mascara or the date on the tube or something else I have to say they all were the same. I will now be buying another brand.

New formula.

I have used the voluminous mascara for years. The 5x wear. It is now 15x wear, and the application is drier and does not keep the lashes separated. Washing it off is not possible any longer with soap and water. Residue remains on the lashes and under the eye.L’Oreal have made it water resistant. Nothing about these changes are for the better. I will have to change product.

Absolutely awful new formula

This used to be the only mascara I would use. It was absolutely amazing. I just bought a bottle because my last one was completely out and I was very sadly disappointed. It is no longer the same formula and is an absolute horror to get off. It’s so flakey and gets in my eyes. I’m absolutely devastated and am too scared to try any other mascaras because I already had my favorite one😭

GO BACK to OLD FORMULA

I have been using this same mascara for 26+ years. I used a daily combination of the original (grey tube), the carbon black and the white primer. I SWORE by these and refused to use or even try anything else. I referred so many to try these—and said that they’d never go back to another mascara again. This formula change was an EPIC fail. This mascara is not even close to what it used to be. In fact it doesn’t even deliver OK results. It clumps up horribly, doesn’t give any volume, and drys out so fast. So I’ve now jumped on the list of loyal users who are also searching to find another mascara. L’Oréal you have broken the millions of hearts of those who swore by this mascara. To sum this up—PLEASE go BACK to the old formula.

I have used this mascara for years. Whatever this new formula is is absolutely awful. My eyes burn every time I put it on and within minutes, they are watering and causing tears to run out of my eyes and smudge the mascara.

Formula changes makes hard to remove now

Used this mascara for 20 years but I am going to have to start using something else. It’s too hard to wash off. It’s more like a water proof mascara now. I thought it was my face wash but I bought two other face washes before I realized that it really just was the mascara. Can you go back to making the old formula? Let us know if so, so we can start buying it again.

Why change from a good to a bad product??????

Well I purchased 10 packs of this for my wife for Christmas. I am now out well over $!00 because the formula has changed and is absolutely nothing like it use to be. Changed from 5x to 15x and I had no idea mascara could change that much. I don't understand why companies change a good product and only seem to make it horrible. If it is to save 10 cent per item in manufacturing I hope it worked out for them because it certainly didn't work out for me. I know a husband probably shouldn't buy a woman makeup but with what my wife has been through in the past 2 years I would do anything to help her. But unfortunately I failed miserably.

Used to Be Great

I used the Voluminous Carbon Black for many, many years. Unfortunately, the formula has changed and the mascara is no longer what it previously was. It seems "dried" out and flakes terribly. I bought two separate tubes at stores thinking maybe they were old but that wasn't the case. I'll be looking for a new mascara as this product is not for me.

PLZ BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA. THIS SMELLS TOXIC

I have used this mascara for over 20 years now. I have tried every mascara on the market and this was my holy Grail. I am so so so disappointed that they have changed the formula. I can no longer use this brand or mascara because this new formula smells like gasoline, burns my eyes, it clumps, flakes all over my face, and inside my eyes, which irritates it, when I try to wash it off, it doesn’t come off and it flakes even more. I hate the waterproof formula and this is worse than that now my eyes become red, swollen and watery. They have ruined a perfectly good mascara. Have you never heard of the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” I cannot believe you guys would change up a cult favorite on us like this. PLEASE go back to the old formula. PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. WE ARE ALL REVIEWING THE SAME THING AND SAYING THE SAME THING. This complaint is also all over Reddit forums and make up forums.

Pleased, then disappointed

I used to love Loreal Voluminous mascara but stopped using it over 8 years ago because of the parabens in it, which are known to disrupt the endocrine system. I was very pleased recently to discover that the formula had been updated to remove the parabens and eagerly purchased a tube. However, unfortunately, in just the first week, I counted 5 eyelashes that fell out while trying to remove the mascara. It is too difficult to remove. I am 53 and my lashes are getting more sparse in general, so I cannot afford to lose eye lashes at that rate. I need to stop using this mascara once again. Too bad.

The new formula is TRASH!

OMG! It has been my favorite mascara for over 20 years! And now? THEY CHANGED THE FORMULA! WHY? I LOVED this product so much! This is really disappointing that all the Loreal products that I like for decades, they suddenly change their formula and turn them into a trashy product! It’s not the original mascara anymore! Why would they change an amazing product? I lost all my lashes since using this new formula! It’s sticky and impossible to remove even with makeup remover! It pulls out all your lashes! DON’T BUY! DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS NEW FORMULA!

Poor results and almost impossible to remove.

This Voluminous Original in Black 305 is very hard to get off the eyelashes. I just opened a brand new tube, and the performance is abysmal: no volume whatsoever. Ideally, I’d like to send it back to L’Oreal, because they should be the ones responsible for recycling this hot mess. Never again.

Horrible from the beginning to the end of the day. Gloopy, gloppy when applying and flaking, smudging when the day is done. Applicator is too bendy and brush bristles are too short. Don't waste your money. Totally disappointed in this product.

Makes my blue eyes pop!! Fabulous product!!

This is the only mascara I wear!!!
I get lots of compliments on it!
I've worn blue mascara for years but this one really sets my blue eyes off and enhances them.
It's on my Amazon subscription so I don't run out!!
Best mascara!! My favorite!!!

Very pleased

I am very, very happy with this. My lashes look perfect. Fluffy, defined, and fanned out. I don't notice quite as much irritation from this mascara as I do some others. However, when I try to remove this, I sometimes lose lashes, and that is concerning. I wish there were a way to mitigate this.
This mascara is also easy to apply, and that's a very important factor when I choose a mascara.

Flakes off and impossible to remove

Bring back the old formula. I have been a loyal customer for almost 30 years. The mascara is now impossible to get off my eyelashes. I actually thought that I accidentally bought waterproof mascara. Nope! I have tried several different eye makeup removal methods and plain soap and water. Nothing works. The mascara also flakes everywhere. It irritates my eyes and forget being able to wear contacts with it. I am so sad but I will have to change to a different brand.

Bring back the old formula!!!

I’ve been using this mascara since I started wearing mascara 15 years ago. I just bought a new tube and feel completely betrayed as they have changed the formula that I have come to rely on. Someone please let me know when they bring back the old formula, and in the mean time I’ll be looking for a new mascara :(

Great color, weird scent.

Love the color!! Not quite as voluminous as I'd hoped unless I apply 2 coats. But the smell! Is there perfume in it?? That's all I can smell when I wear it, and I'm not usually sensitive to smells except tobacco & lavender.

Sucks

I’ve used this mascara since 1995. My most recent purchase Is very notably not the same. It’s awful. It hardly lengthens and it too wet and makes my lashes stick together. This is the opposite of how it used to work. This new formula sucks.

Gummy and not easily removable

I’ve loved and used L’Oréal voluminous original for years but they have changed their formula. Now it’s gummy and I’m disappointed with it. Please change it back

Bring back the old formula!

I’ve used this product for decades, but have now switched to another brand. I’m not sure what happened to this formula, but it now flakes and is difficult to remove. I used to recommend it to others, and I’ve had many compliments on the length and fullness of my lashes. I’m sad that L’Oreal decided to change the formula, as I’m no longer a fan of this product.

Formula change or something

I have used this product for years.. that said, they have changed the formula... its almost tubing like and I absolutely hate it... please bring back the original! Or the last formula... I have tried 3 since giving away my last tube of this... and nothing is as good!

HORRIBLE MASCARA now.

After years of using the original Voluminous mascara and loving not only how great it looked, but thee compliments I received, I'm extremely disappointed in the new formulation. It is total junk and I'll be spending my money elsewhere and happily paying much more for GOOD washable mascara. There is nothing washable about this paste in a tube! You have foolishly alienated faithful followers and it will eventually catch up to you in profits.
The only positive reviews I'm see for this were all given incentives. GO back to the REAL original formula.

Sorry I bought this

I've been using this mascara for years, and didn't realize they reformulated it. It flakes even when I just put it on, and the flakes get in my eyes - I consider this a health hazard. Plus, something in it makes my eyes burn. I bought this in a two-pack, and it will just go to waste. Wish they still made the old version - it was great.

Revert back to the old formula!!!

Have you changed the formula back yet? As you can see by all of the negative reviews, it was a detrimental mistake to change formula when you have had loyal customers for 20+ years. Now we are all spending money on other brands trying to find our new holy grail mascara when I could have just continued to purchase my monthly tubes of voluminous!! LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS, CHANGE IT BACK!!! I won't be purchasing ANYTHING from Loreal until you fix this horrible mistake!!!
