Looking to try something new with your eye makeup look? We know just the thing! Trendier than ever and also easy to create at home, a teal eye makeup look is perfect for spring and summertime. Here, we’re sharing two teal makeup ideas, plus a step-by-step guide on how to get each look for yourself. Bonus: We’re also giving you the scoop on all of our best teal eye makeup options—including eyeliner and eye shadow—for experimenting on your own.
TEAL EYE MAKEUP LOOK #1: TEAL CAT EYE
This eye makeup look takes the traditional wing-tipped look a step further by adding two different teal eyeliner shades, one stacked on top of the other. Whether you want to channel your inner mermaid or you just want to rock a new makeup look for the night out, here’s how to do it.
What you’ll need:
Eye shadow primer
Small eyeshadow brush
L'Oréal Paris Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Endless Pearl
L'Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Eyeliner in Wild Green
L'Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Eyeliner in Intrepid Teal
L'Oréal Paris Unlimited Lash Lifting and Lengthening Washable Mascara in Blackest Black
Get the look by following these simple steps:
Step 1: prime your eyes
Priming is always the first step when it comes to teal eye makeup since you undoubtedly want your look to last. Prime your upper eyelid with a thin layer of eye shadow primer before you really get started.
Step 2: apply a neutral base shade
Using a small eye shadow brush, apply an even layer of a nude eye shadow over your entire lid. Applying a base shade like this one will help your teal eyeliner really pop.
Step 3: apply your first eyeliner
Using your darker teal eyeliner, apply a thin layer onto your upper lash line, extending it outward to create a wing. Wait about 30 seconds before moving to the next step, this will help prevent any smearing.
Step 4: apply your second eyeliner
Next, use your lighter teal eyeliner to draw a thin line directly on top of the green line you just made. Extend this line outward too, adding a small wing.
Step 5: layer on mascara
Lastly, apply a few coats of black mascara.
TEAL EYE MAKEUP LOOK #2: TWO-TONED TEAL EYE SHADOW
We love a two-toned eye makeup look, and even more so when it incorporates gorgeous teal shades. Using a two-toned eye shadow technique can provide just enough definition without looking overdone.
What you’ll need:
Eye shadow primer
Small eye shadow brush
Tapered eye shadow brush
L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Pocket Palette Eye Shadow in Avant Garde Azure
L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof, Up to 24HR Pencil Eyeliner in Nude
L'Oréal Paris Infallible The Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner in Black
Get the look by following these simple steps:
Step 1: prime your eyes
You know the drill here: Apply a light layer of eye shadow primer to help your teal makeup look stay in place all day (or night) long.
Step 2: Brighten your inner corners
Using a small eye shadow brush, apply the lightest teal shade from your palette on the inner corners of your upper eyelids. Extend the color about halfway across your eyelid, then move on to the next step.
Step 3: Apply your dark shadow
Next, swirl your eye shadow brush into the darker teal shadow and apply it to the outer half of your eyelid. Then, grab your tapered eye shadow brush and apply the same shade along your lower lash line.
Step 4: Add highlights
Using the nude eyeliner pencil, highlight around your tear duct and underneath your brow bone. You can use a cotton swab or the pad of your finger to gently blend out the liner.
Step 5: Apply eyeliner
Next, apply a thin line of black liquid eyeliner on your upper lash line only.
Step 6: Top it off with mascara
Finish off your teal eye makeup look with a few coats of black mascara and you’re all set!
