Ah, dark circles—we’ve all had that moment where we’ve looked in the mirror and seen them under our eyes. While it may not be possible to get rid of dark circles, the good news is, there are steps you can take to help diminish their appearance, including adding an eye cream to your skin care routine. Want to know how to help reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes? Keep reading for three easy steps for dark circles and step-by-step guidance for trying each one.
Dark Circles Under the Eyes Tip #1: Add an Eye Cream to Your Skin Care Routine
Using an eye cream as part of your daily skin care routine is quite possibly the simplest way to address the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. Look for one that’s formulated to diminish the look of dark circles, such as one of the following options below. Then go ahead and try this one for yourself!
L’Oréal Paris Eye Defense: This light, non-greasy gel cream is specially formulated to defend against signs of premature aging around the eyes, including puffiness, fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circles under the eyes. It’s formulated with caffeine and hyaluronic acid. Morning and night, apply it in small dots around your eye and smooth until it’s absorbed.
L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Eye Renewal Eye Cream: This eye cream can help diminish the look of dark circles on mature skin with continued use over time. Apply it around your entire eye area with your fingertips and pat it in gently until it’s absorbed. You can use it morning and night.
L’Oréal Paris RevitaLift Miracle Blur Eye: With light-diffusing pigments, this eye cream can instantly reduce the look of aging and fatigue around the eyes. Plus, dark circles can appear minimized with continued use over time. Dot on a small amount to your eye area with your fingertips and gently blend it in. You can use it daily on bare skin or as the last step in your skin care routine.
L’Oréal Paris RevitaLift Triple Power™ Eye Treatment: This luxurious, lightweight eye cream helps transform the look of aging skin. The cooling applicator helps reduce the appearance of both dark circles and under-eye bags, while skin looks brighter with continued use over time.
Dark Circles Under the Eyes Tip #2: Keep Things Cool
Once you’ve picked out the right eye cream to address the appearance of dark circles under the eyes, think about storing it in the fridge. Yep, you heard us right! When cold, eye creams can cause short-term vasoconstriction (i.e. tightening of blood vessels), which make them beneficial for those with dark circles, as well as puffiness. You can also try using an eye cream with a cooling applicator tip (remember, we recommended one of those to you, above!) if you don’t want to keep yours in the refrigerator.
Dark Circles Under the Eyes Tip #3: Use Makeup to Camouflage
If you’re headed on a job interview or have a date after work, you may be wondering what you can do to help get rid of dark circles immediately. Well, minimizing the appearance of dark circles under the eyes can be done temporarily with makeup. Follow our tutorial to hide dark circles with foundation and concealer.
Step 1: Color correct. Color correcting concealers work by neutralizing shades opposite them on the color wheel. For dark circles, that means you should pick a peach color corrector. You can find this concealer shade in the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Total Cover Color Correcting Kit which also contains green (to counteract redness), purple (to hide dullness), and yellow (to mask discolorations). Apply the peach shade in an upside-down triangle on your dark circles and blend. A little goes a long way, so use sparingly.
Step 2: Follow up with concealer. Once you’re done color correcting, reach for a flesh-toned concealer, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Glow Concealer or the L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Super-Blendable Multi-Use Concealer. Use the applicator to dab a little bit of concealer overtop of your color corrector and blend it in with your fingers.
Step 3: Finish with foundation. Now that your dark circles are hidden, it’s time to complete your look. Reach for a radiant finish foundation, like the L’Oréal Paris Pro Glow Foundation, and apply it with the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender all over your face.
