It’s that time of year, beauty lovers! Halloween is approaching fast, and we can’t think of a better occasion to showcase your stellar makeup skills. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect costume, this zombie makeup tutorial will give you the spooky vibes you’re looking for—with a glamorous, bridal twist, of course. From eye makeup to lip color, keep reading to find out how to create an easy zombie makeup look for Halloween.
STEP #1: PREP YOUR FACE
Start by applying a makeup primer to ensure your zombie bride makeup stays put all night long. We love the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Lock Makeup Primer because it not only preps and smoothes the skin for makeup application, but also gives a long-lasting matte finish that’s fit for the occasion.
STEP #2: CREATE YOUR BASE
Once your face is primed, you’ll want to use a matte foundation, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. To amp up the zombie vibes, use a color that’s one to two shades lighter than your skin tone. Apply your it using the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender, then use the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Sweep & Lock Loose Setting Face Powder to set your base.
STEP #3: CONTOUR
Who doesn’t love a perfectly contoured face? While this is certainly not your typical contour, even a zombie bride deserves chiseled cheeks! Use a matte black eyeshadow, like the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Noir Cest Noir, to contour the hollows of your cheeks and forehead. Blend out the black shadow with the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow in Meet Me in Paris or a little setting powder to soften any harsh lines.
STEP #4: APPLY EYESHADOW
Now that your face makeup is finished, it’s time to move on to one of the most important parts of this makeup look: your eye makeup. To add a little life to your eyes (or lack of, rather), smudge a brown cream shadow around them. Apply it onto your lid and underneath your eyes. Then, layer on your black and grey shadows to create a more sunken look. Add a red shadow into the mix to further the zombie eye aura. Your eyeshadow can be as messy as you want, so don't worry about perfection—it will actually detract from this look.
STEP #5: FINISH YOUR EYE MAKEUP
To finish your eyes, use the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Flash Cat Eye Waterproof Brush Tip Liquid Eyeliner in Black to draw on winged eyeliner and define your eye. Then, coat your lashes with the L’Oréal Paris Unlimited Lash Lifting and Lengthening Washable Mascara in Blackest Black, and you’re good to go.
STEP #6: PAINT YOUR POUT
To create an undead-esque lip look, apply the L’Oréal Paris Pro Matte Liquid Lipstick in Stirred for a long-lasting, deep red matte pout. Then, contour your lips by applying a black lipstick around the edges of your mouth, smudging it out for an undone look. Finish your lip look by dabbing the L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature, Lasting Matte Liquid Lipstick in I Am Worth It onto the center of your lips.
STEP #7: ADD SOME DETAIL
Of course, what’s a zombie makeup look without a little gore? To keep this look haunting but still totally put together, create a few faux wounds on your forehead, cheek, and hand to pull everything together. First, use your red lipstick to create the base of your wound. Dab it on your skin, then blend out the edges with your fingers or a makeup sponge. Layer your red eyeshadow on top to add depth, keep the lipstick in place, and give your wound a more matte finish. Then, apply your darker red liquid lipstick to the center of the wound for a more realistic look. You've almost mastered special effects makeup—all that's left is blending a dark grey eyeshadow around the edges of the liquid lipstick.
STEP #8: COMPLETE THE LOOK WITH HAIR COLOR
Your beautiful hair color may be your signature, but is it really the hue of a zombie mane? Give your locks that zombie touch with the L’Oréal Paris Colorista Hair Makeup Temporary 1-Day Hair Color Spray in Silver. Hold the can four to six inches away from dry hair and spray as much on as you please. You can give yourself moody silver streaks or an all-over silver shade.
STEP #9: ACCESSORIZE
Last but not least, it’s time to add some bride vibes. Grab a faux wedding ring and pop on a veil to complete the look. Whether you wear your hair down or in a sleek, straight ponytail is up to you—after all, it’s your undead wedding.
